Hans T. Clarke
Fred had a close relationship with Hans T. Clarke, D.Sc., who in 1928, was head of the Department of Biological Chemistry at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. Clarke was a professor at Columbia University from 1928 to 1956. During that time Fred's sister, Marianna R. Bovarnick, was a student of Dr. Clarke's when he was at Columbia. She became a beloved friend of the Clarke family.
In 1947, Fred married his youngest daughter, Heidi Clarke, and, they had two daughters (Sarah and Ruth).
Fred and Dr. Clarke became colleagues for a brief period when Dr. Clarke had a research position at Yale University for nearly 8 years starting in 1956.
